NO OUTSIDERS ALLOWED IN KELANTAN SCHOOL COMPOUNDS

School authorities were also told to suspend all outdoor activities in the wake of the pandemic.

KOTA BARU: Outsiders including parents and media personnel were banned from entering all primary, secondary and pre-schools in Kelantan as a precautionary measure against Covid-19.

State Education director Fauzi Zahari said the directive, effective recently, was issued during a meeting with representatives from all district education offices.

For that, he said the department had directed all school authorities to provide a special area particularly for parents to pick their children up from school.

School authorities were also told to suspend all outdoor activities in the wake of the pandemic.

"The recent cases of Covid-19 recorded in Kelantan has prompted us to come out with the directive as a precaution against the spread of the pandemic.

"Apart from the directive, we also told school authorities to follow the SOPs set by the Ministry of Education," he said.

Fauzi also denied news that had gone viral recently on a teacher and a student who tested positive for Covid-19.

"I would like to stress here that, none of our school teachers, students or education staff were tested positive.

"So far, no school or classroom has been ordered to close due to the pandemic," he said.

Fauzi called on parents to ensure the safety of their children by asking them not to forget to wear face masks and practise physical distancing.
