YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YTL) chief executive officer, Wing K. Lee (centre) speaks to reporters in George Town.
GEORGE TOWN: YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YTL) said it would continue providing the Frog Virtual Learning Environment (Frog VLE) learning platform to all schools despite non-renewal of the contract by the Education Ministry.
Its chief executive officer, Wing K. Lee, said they did not want the students and teachers to be impacted by the non- renewal of contract.
“As such, we will continue to provide the services.
“We won it through open tender, and (we are) looking forward for the next opportunity to show what we can do,” he said at the Terragraph pilot project, here, today.
The Education Ministry recently announced that it had rejected YTL’s offer to extend the 1BestariNet free Internet service contract.
YTL had expressed shock over the ministry’s decision.
On June 27, the ministry said Celcom Axiata Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd and Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd would take over as the Internet service providers (ISP) for schools from July 1.
The contract between 1BestariNet and the ministry to provide Internet access and a Frog VLE to schools nationwide ended on June 30.
